SBDC Success Story: Thoughtrobbers and Coterie Clean

It is often said that entrepreneurs wear many hats while operating their business. When you’re an entrepreneur like Fran Niznik and at the helm of two very different businesses, a thriving art gallery, Thoughtrobbers, and a concierge cleaning and organization company, Coterie Clean, the variety of hats multiply quickly.

Like many small business owners, Fran created and maintains websites for both of her businesses. She also has a social media presence for her businesses, on multiple platforms. During a meeting with her primary consultant, Fran’s digital marketing needs were addressed and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Report for both businesses was requested. A social media audit for Thoughtrobbers was also suggested by her consultant. During that meeting, Fran shared that she felt the website for Coterie clean did not represent the high end feel of her business that was needed to attract her target market. The consultant offered to complete research on various cleaning and organization company websites to give Fran a feel for other websites with similar target markets that can serve as inspiration to update her own website.

Each SEO report and Social Media Audit is followed up with a review meeting. During Fran’s review meeting, recommendations were made to enhance the current website’s searchability and performance. The Social media audit highlighted strategies that were working and areas for improvement. Resources are provided to assist clients in following through with recommendations. The response from Fran was nothing but positive.

The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will continue to work with Fran not only on SEO and Social Media, but on any other challenge she may encounter while growing into two businesses.
