On a Mission for a Mission

By The Wayside Coffee was started in 2017 and is a mobile coffeeshop run by veteran family business members Jamie and Abbey Dean out of Wexford, PA. In addition to creating personalized coffee experiences that meet customers where they are, BTW was created with a mission help connect with the military community and help bridge the growing military/civilian gap. In fact, 10% of BTW’s sales are donated back to local veterans organizations and mission partners.

The Pitt SBDC has helped By The Wayside through a SEO Analysis & Social Media Audit to uncover ways to drive more clients to the business’s digital properties to generate more business. Jamie requested the continued services of the Pitt SBDC for further strategic planning that will help with scaling the company. She appreciates the one-on-one, private counseling SBDC consultant Michael Wholihan provides, and whose ongoing counsel for the future development of the business to drive more sales.

By The Wayside continues to grow by offering new selections and varieties based upon consumer requests for personal options. They have been able to stay competitive by simplifying the payment options, working on new techniques, and lining up new accounts to service throughout the region. Each year they have been in business BTW has grown and has been able to maintain strong profitability.
