The Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE), part of the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Institute, has served business throughout Western Pennsylvania for over 25 years.

Offering a dynamic mix of consulting, education, and networking opportunities, the IEE strives to be an innovative leader in economic development in the region.

Our approach features three main areas of expertise:

Education

No matter how long you have been in business, you can always learn something new.  At the IEE, we support and help businesses build the value of lifelong learning. The IEE offers ongoing educational opportunities addressing a range of needs such as:

  • Monthly startup workshops
  • Specialty programming for growing & established businesses on a variety of topics
  • Monthly seminars for IEE member community

Consulting

The IEE offers a wide range of consulting services to address the complex opportunities and challenges facing entrepreneurs.

  • General Consulting

The SBDC’s consulting team provides expert advice through workshops and no-cost consulting services in a number of relevant areas.

  • Supply Chain

The IEE provides professional supply chain management experience to clients at a level appropriate for small business operations and growth.

  • Environmental Management Assistance Program (EMAP)

EMAP, a program of the SBDC, provides small businesses with the answers and assistance they need to effectively manage their environmental concerns and reduce regulatory risks.

  • Family Business Consulting

The IEE can provide assistance to families as they work together now and in future generations.

  • Information Technology

The IEE’s Information Technology consultants help companies evolve current technology platforms and strategically incorporate new ones. IEE IT services will help analyze and enhance current IT strategies and investments to create operational efficiencies and integration.

  • Product Development + Commercialization

Consultants provide the strategic knowledge and guidance needed to bridge the gap from idea to commercialization. Following an initial application and evaluation, clients begin an intensive consulting engagement that leads to a plan and timeline to bring a new product, service, or technology to market.

Networking

As an organization built on connections, the IEE recognizes the importance of networking for business leaders. Since its founding, the IEE has provided various opportunities for members to come better connected with those in their field and beyond.
