2014 Pitt Day of Caring
Yesterday marked the 23rd annual Pitt Day of Caring, a United Way sponsored event where University of Pittsburgh students, staff and alumni had an opportunity to make a tangible difference throughout the Pittsburgh community. Pitt volunteers demonstrated how much they care by assisting community partners in a direct and hands-on effort with critically needed projects. These included our Oakland community partners, as well as many other organizations throughout the region. Several staff members from the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence showed their support this year through volunteer efforts at Community Human Services and the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation. Pitt Day of Caring is just one way that the Pitt community supports the United Way of Allegheny County, which in 2013 raised more than 665,000 to support local programs and agencies. The United Way of Allegheny County is a change agent and efficient community fundraiser that improved lives by addressing critical community needs and creating long-lasting change.
